My PC uses Win98 SE and IE6. When I click the desktop icon to get on the
internet, the screen comes up but there is nothing but a white screen where
the sites should be. I cannot get on the internet and the "repair Internet
Explorer" will not work obviously. I am using my wife's laptop which is the
only way I can get onto the internet. An error box appears with the red
circle and white X that states "This program has performed an illegal
function.........." "IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in module
<unknown> at 0000:696e6170. Registers:
EAX,CS,EIP,EFLGS,EBX,SS,ESP,BP,ECX,DS,ESI,FS,EDX,ES,EDI, & GS."
Other times the message is the same but the address is different. It may be
an unknown module @ 0000:00640070m 0000:752f2f3a.
Since I cannot get on the internet to repair and do not have an IE6 disk, do
you think it would be advisable to have an Ie6 disk burned and load it into
the ailing PC?
I cannot find what the problem is and do not know where to start looking
within my system to see what is messed up. Any advice will be greatly
appreciated.
Thank you
