cannot get manual update

I get the message that there is no internet connection
even though I can access the internet via IE and
Firefox. Any solution to this?

This seems to be a common problem for several people.
See the May 16 entry "update failure".
Don't know what is wrong. I'm not a computer geek, yet.

I've got the same problem! I'm def. on the 'net...but get
the same message!

I've seen one report where a user seemed to be reporting that having the
Windows firewall running simultaneously with a third-party firewall
apparently resulted in properly configured exceptions within that third
party firewall not working. I can believe this, but haven't tried to
replicate it.

My very distant past experience with third-party firewalls makes me distrust
the process of shutting them down.

On the other hand, I can also attest to seeing this error even without a
third-party firewall involved, so I can't clearly blame it on the firewall
for certain.
 
uninstall and re install fixed the finding connection issue here.

seemed to fail after install of CounterSpy
now they both work fine....JB
