Cannot get into Safe Mode C;\ Prompt

When I re-boot W2K and try to get into the SAfe Mode C:\ " DOS-Type"
screen I am unable to do this as the PC boots straight into W2K
without showing the message about holding down the F8 key.

How can I overcome this problem ?

Put any floppy that IS NOT a boot disk into your a:\ drive when you boot.
When it stops and says it cant find the NTDLR, eject the disk, press the
spacebar, and then the F8 key right afterward.
That should get you there.
(You normally press the F8 key whenever the loading bar appears across the
bottom of the monitor)

Thanks - I'll try that

That's what I normally do but , recently , for some as yet
undiscovered reason , this loading bar now either never appears or
appears so quickly that its gone before I can press the F8 key.

Hence this post.
