Go to the network adapter properties and select
advanced. Double check the firewall settings on your
systems. I suspect it is the MS firewall doing this to
you. (One would think that when adding this feature to
their own OS that they would make it easy to continue
with File and Print sharing ...)

Hi,
I have disabled my Firewall and checked that none of the M/S firewalls are
connected on any of the LAN connections, even tried disabling the one on the
internet connection but no change. One thing that I have found is that I can
ping internet id's from the client but I cannot ping www. addresses,(if I
put in the numbers it pings OK), the other find is that if I put in a WWW.
address in the IE6 address bar that has not been used before it says
"Internet Explorer unable to open search page" If I enter another computer
name that is on the LAN then it connects to that PC OK. Just a thought but I
have had trouble with the "Guest" user on my Host computer and switched that
off for a while until I discovered that access from the LAN to my files was
controlled by that user id, does the Internet for the client gain access to
my internet connection via that user id?
Any ideas or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Peter
