Cannot Get Audio Connection to Work

E

Eric

I cannot seem to get the Audio to work with Messenger
6.0. I send an invitation and once accepted, the window
says connecting with the other person for a long period
of time, then it cancels and says "The network or
computer you are trying to reach is experiencing a
problem. Please try again later." It says this every
time. I've run the audio tuning wizard and it shows that
the microphone is working, and the webcam connects just
fine. What's wrong here? Thanks for your help!

The most suspect problem is how you are connected to the Internet and do you
have a "Router" or such in the connection path.

I have tried it several different ways.....with and
without a router through the cable modem, and through a
56k telephone modem, none of which seemed to get the
audio to work right. I have tested and retested throught
the tuning wizard, and the microphone shows it is picking
up sound. I have enabled and disabled the Windows XP
firewall option as well to no avail. I am at a complete
loss and hope someone can help me find the issue.

There is a problem with audio in MM6, and no general solution. It works in
some configurations and doesn't work in others . I didn't see any definition
of a "proven " working configuration,-- too many parameters!
You can find problem descriptions and some fixes in the archives (up to 2/3
weeks back) of this NG .
My advice: go back to version5

I have tried with two different friends over the internet
in different locations, different systems, and I have
tried at home with myself on my second computer with the
cable modem connected directly to one, and 56K phone modem
on the other, as well as with the router connecting both
computers. I've changed different settings I know of and
read about in the postings. The webcam works fine in both
scenerios, the audio has never worked. It always
says "connecting..." and then it fails. Funny thing is
from one friend I could hear the audio, but no one has
ever been able to hear me.

I'm not sure. I have not tried it. I'll investigate.
What are you suggesting? Should I use Windows Messenger
instead to try to fix the issue?
