I am running WinXP on a Toshiba 4000CDT and I'm trying to install the scanner driver for my Xerox scanner. When I double-click Setup.exe, it will not open. I have tried saving it to the desktop, running from a CD, running from the command prompt...nothing. I scanned for viruses, checked the command value in the Registry Editor, and all is fine. I've freed up disk space and defragmented my drive. Nothing. Every other program runs fine, and the printer driver installed just fine. I'm at my last straw here.

I am having the same problem. If you look at Task
Manager processes (Ctrl-Alt-Del), you will see SETUP.EXE
running as a bakground process, but no install happens.
Please let me know if you fingure this out. I will do
the same
