I have a network with three computers, and I am using Windows XP Home edition on two of the computers. I connected an HP 1300 laser printer with a print server box (from an unidentified Taiwan company) to a port on the network switch. The print server box has a light that shows that there is an Ethernet connection. The network switch light on the port where the printer is connected is on to show that there is a connection.
Win XP is not clear on how to proceed to communicate with the printer.
I imagine that each computer on the network, that wants to print needs to have a copy of the printer driver installed?
''View Network Connections'' shows the computers connected to the switch, but not the networked printer.
I have a feeling that the printer server box needs to be configured with an IP address, but I don't know how.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.
