cannot format HDD

Damien

just bought new system with xp. installed an old HDD and
copied needed files to new HDD then tried to format the
old one. error message said format could not be
completed. tried to access drive but message said that
drive is not formatted, did i wish to format now? when i
clicked yes, i was told again that format could not be
completed. went to command prompt and tried to format
but response was: "The type of the file system is RAW.
Please use the /FS switch to specify the file system you
wish to use on this volume." the files are backed up,
but i'd really like to save the drive if possible. any
ideas?
thanks,
damien

Damien, just disconnect the white molex connector to the new drive. Then
use a bootdisk. If you need one go here
www.bootdisk.com and use fdisk and format to delete and create a new
partition.
