have windows 2000 and IE 5.0( I know an older verv but
this is the one I need.) IE was working fine until a few
days ago. I try to open and I get "Can not Find Server"
in title bar and Page can not be displayed in the body of
the page. With that being said, I can open up Windows
Explorer and click on the Internet Explorer icon on the
let side and this opens my home page. and I am able to
browse the internet fine except when I try to open new
page in a new window. There is no repair option in
Windows 2000, upgrading to IE 6 did not help, and running
the repair option for Winodws 2000 and Office 2000 MSI did
not help either. Any suggestions would be great. Is
there a registry key I need to check. Virus def up to
date.

I'm having the same problem on 2 computers. 1 is running
Windows XP with IE 6 and the other 1 is running Windows
ME with IE 5. I tried upgrading, repairing, and all of
that stuff but nothing seemed to help. I ended up
reformatting the drive on the XP machine and it looks
like I may end up doing the same thing on the ME machine.
It seems as though it may be some sort of virus, but, I
also upgraded the Norton's virus definitions on the XP
machine and it didn't detect anything. I couldn't get the
update through live update, I had to download it on
another computer and put it on a CD and then install it.
So, I'm not convinced that it's not some kind of virus.
Please let me know if you hear anything and I will do the
same.
Thanks,
Rodney Brown
