Hi,

I've just bought a Brother HL-5170DN network printer,
which has been installed on the IP 192.168.0.155. My
computer (at home) is running on 192.168.0.100.

When I connect to my computer at work the printer at the
client computer (home) isn't mounted.

I'm using the same WORKGROUP on the two computers.

It used to work with my old USB-printer, but now I'm out
of ideas :-(

I really hope that someone got any ideas on what to do.

Brgds,

Anders Thingholm

You can see whether this registry change:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q302361

makes a difference. I'm uncertain whether it will or not.

You could also do some experimentation. Re-share the printer on your client
machine--i.e. create a sharename so that other machines on your network (if
any!) could access the printer via your machine.

Then do Net Use lpt1: \\machinename\sharename

i.e. try to connect LPT1 on your machine to this shared network printer.

you might find that can be redirected.

I can't easily test this myself at the moment, and I'm uncertain of the
correct answer, as you can see--but these are avenues I'd explore to see
whether this can be made to work.
