I am trying to export a contact list from Outlook 2003 into an Excel file,
and when I get to the last step in the Export Wizard, the 'finish' option is
grayed out, and not functional. I have installed Service Pack 2, and it still
won't finish. Any ideas?

Verify that you have importers and exporters installed.
Define what you mean by "contact list."
List your steps more precisely.

Russ-

How do I verify that I have the proper importers/exporters installed?

I am trying to export a Contact Folder which is a sub-folder of the
'Contacts' folder. I used the Import/Export function under 'file', and
followed the steps, specifying Excel file as type. At the last step, the
'finish' button is grayed out, as is the 'Map Fields' button.

Use the Office Maintenance Wizard (which you invoke from Control Panel >
Add/Remove) to ensure that all of Outlook's importers and exporters are
properly installed.
Verify that this subfolder has been enabled for inclusion in the Outlook
Address Book service (Properties > Outlook Address Book Tab).

On the page where the "Map Fields" and "Finish" button are greyed out - your
folder should be listed on the left hand side in the box under "The
Following Actions will be performed" - make sure that the checkbox is
checked at which point both buttons become enabled.

Off the cuff - first reaction is to suggest that you NOT use "export" if the
objective is to make a copy of your contacts in another PST file. Why not
just make a backup of your entire PST file (i.e. make a copy of it)? A whole
lot safer overall should you ever need to recover from anything. Even though
I expect that we're shortly going to have a very comprehensive "Exporter"
product in the marketplace - would never suggest it for what you're doing
(leastwise from your description) and would never use export myself for that
purpose.

If you don't want to keep everything that's in the primary PST file - then
would suggest simply copying the contact folder(s) to your backup PST
(Outlook data) file.

I didn't explain my problem clearly enough... sorry. I have two
profiles--one for me and one for my husband. We both use the same contacts.
The only way I know for him to be able to use my contacts is to export my
contacts to my backup file and then go to his profile and import my backup
contacts to his contacts file. Is there an easier way?

Not only easier, but safer, too.
You lose data when you export and import.
Just copy the contacts into their own PST file and open that file in the
other installation.
