I just started getting this message when I try to execute Outlook Express on
my Win XP (SP2) machine.
“Outlook Express could not be started because your computer is low on system
resources. Most likely the problem is your computer is low on memory or
unstableâ€
My system shows 1.25 GB of RAM, 908MHz processor. It has two hard drives
with free space of about 40GB each (C drive has 39.5GB). I have other memory
intensive apps (including Delphi, and Visual Studio .NET) that run just fine.
Yesterday and today I did get it working again by deleting the folders.dbx
file and rebooting. I have found indications on the MS site that some
Virus/Firewall products may cause problems with Outlook Express. I do have
McAfee. I also found some MS documentation that indicates a reinstall of XP
(service pack 2) may help problems like this. Also I did switch the default
e-mail client to Outlook temporarily to test sending e-mails from SQL Server
several hours before this started happening for the first time. However, I
have to believe that is coincidental but maybe not.
Does anyone have any specific knowledge regarding this problem and how to
fix it permanently? Is a reinstall really the only way out?
Thanks for the help.
