cannot erase files

To anyone who might be able to help me:

I have some old files on my hard drive that I cannot
delete. They are old mp3 files, automatically named from
song titles, that have since lost their mp3 ending. When
I try to delete them, I receive the error 'cannot read
from source file or disk'. 'Properties' indicates they
have no size, while the cursor shows that their sizes
range from 5 to 40 MB.

I would really like to be able to get rid of them.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Yours,

Charles

Don't know if this will help but as long as you're sure
they are mp3 files have you tried renaming them and adding
on the correct mp3 filename extension and then trying to
delete them?

Thanks for your answer Bill, but I'm afraid I've tried
that. I get the same error message, 'cannot read
from source file or disk'.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Charles

Hi,

It's possible that you could have some corrupt sectors on
your disk - have you tried running scandisk?
