Hi,
for quite some time now, every once in a while, I cannot fill in the
keyword search field, or password fields, etc. Sometimes stopping and
restarting ie seems to work. Most of the time this happens on Microsoft
sites. Currently I cannot sign into my .net passport because I cannot
enter the password.

Any ideas?

I run Windows XP home edition without SP 2.

Thanks
DIanne

Hi,
This is possibly being caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite)

Work through the solutions (CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot) at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm Also note the security tips on that
page.
Be sure to run CWShredder. The CWSDatanotary variant can cause this problem.

Additional information at:

More security tips at http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.htm

Much less likely, but you may have to disable other programs such as
toolbars for IE, ad-blockers, etc to see if one of them is causing this.

Hope this helps,
Don

Thanks

I did look at some of the steps and apply them. Actually I am pretty
good about all that stuff anyway. :)

It looks like the problem is that I didn't allow the site to use it's
active x controls. I tried reloading and allowing the active x and then
I could enter the text.

Now if I could just figure out my visual studio problem and figure out
what is giving me DCOM errors and why I can't paste text into microsoft
applications unless the application is open when I copy the text. :)
