When copying and pasting in Excel 2000 we have started getting the message
"cannot empty the clipboard" This goes away with repeated clicking or if we
close out of excel and then re enter the program. We are running excel
through a terminal server.

I am having the exact same problem. I am running Excel 2000 through terminal server. The suggestion in Microsoft's support article does not help since I do not have GetRight installed. Any other ideas?

I don't know if this is a solution everyone likes, but I found one that has been working for me. If I open MS Word before opening Excel and I keep Word open, I don't get the "cannot empty the clipboard" message at all. I'm not actually using Word, I just have it open. And it has to be started before starting Excel.

It's a little annoying, but certainly less annoying and cumbersome than dealing with "cannot empty the clipboard" 78 times an hour. I just hope this trick continues to work. It's been working for a week, so it doesn't seem to be a fluke so far. Hope this helps others.
