until today i have easily downloaded my photos each time i connected my
camera and the usb connector. however, now the photo manager/wizard does not
open. the computer registers that hardware has been connected, but nothing
occurs. i have tried to troubleshoot the problem using the device manager
without success. i have tried to reload the usb connection driver with the
original software disk for the camera, but have had no luck.
any suggestions, please?
thank you

Have you installed/uninstalled/updated anything
that may have caused a conflict? Several users
have reported that installing RealPlayer 10 could
cause problems of this type.

I've got the same problem, I can't get auto start to work. Does anyone have
any suggestions.

I've just been reading the MS article covering some of the
adverse implications of the new XP Service Pack 2 release
(Knowledge Base Article 842242). At the back of the
article is a list of programs that "...may require you to
open ports manually so that programs can work normally."
Amazingly, since it came as a significant selling point
for XP when it was first released, this list includes
Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard. Apparently, the vendor
of this program is Xerox and the article helpfully!!
suggests we "See the documentation".
I've not yet had SP2 installed but it's going to be
automatically delivered from MS starting later this week
so I'll be checking for problems uploading from my digicam
straight away.

I have the same problem with Pentax Optio S40. Worked great until the other
day, when I installed XP-SP-2. What to do?? I can't find a driver on line.
