This is a clean install of Windows XP (i've added the applications i use).
But i cannot download any files (tried with zip and exe from various web
sites, including www.HP.com, the same file that works on another machine, so
it's not the web server). I can click on "Save", then i'm supposed to get
the dialog that asks me where i want to save the file, but i never ger it,
and it hangs. The only thing i can do after that is kill it from Task
Manager.
Anyone knows how to fix this? I really do not want to re-install Windows
again.
I've downloaded updates related to IE from Windows Update.

Thanks in advance!

Okay, i think i solved it.
I waited about 7 minutes before killing it, and finally it actually showed
up. Tried to download (failed), but on the second attempt it succeded, and
since then i can download as usually.

Hope this helps someone else!

This happened to me, too, but I have WinMe. In IE6, I
checked my security settings (Tools->Internet Options-
Security->Custom Level) and they were set to HIGH. When
I set it to MEDIUM, I was able to download. Make sure to
press the RESET button to enable the new level if you need
to change it.
