cannot display 1024x768 after install

Tried to install Win2000 on a Win98 machine. Formatted C drive for a clean
install. After 2000 install, it will only display 640x480. Tried to
reinstall the video driver ( Matrox millenium g400), but win2000 will not
accept the driver. I formatted C again and reinstalled Win 98 SE.

How can I make win 2000 display 1024x768 on that PC?? Thanks
