When I attempt to Disable the Local Area Connection (LAC) I get an "Error
Disabling Connection" window that states, "It is not possible to disable
the connection at this time. This connection may be using one or more
protocols that do not support Plug-and-Play, or it may have been initiated
by another user or the system account."

The OS is XP Home with SP2 and I use to Disable without a hitch. There are
no other users but me. Asus who makes the motherboard with nVidia's
Ethernet connection onboard suggested that it was a Windows XP issue such
as a Service no longer running or set properly?

I don't know how to troubleshoot this nor do I find anything in the KB on
the subject. I am comfortable editing the Registry but don't know what to
look for.

What and how and where might I try uninstalling/reinstalling or resetting
something again to see if that fixes the LAC?

Thank you.

Hi Robert,
Great piece of advice, but here's my problem:
I have two connections right now (unfortunately). One is a 1394 connection
listed as the first one, the other one is the original listed as Marvell
Yukon Gigabit (now Lan #2). I would dearly love to delete the 1394
connection but can't. When I enable it, and click repair, I get the warning
"TCP/IP protocol not selected, cannot proceed. This is wrong, however and it
is selected when I checked the properties tab. Any ideas?
I can bore you later with how this connection got created in the first place.
Thanks,
Mike
