I'm running Windows XP Home edition and when I try to delete
some picture files that I created, I get this error message;
Cannot delete 'filename'. Make sure the disk is not full or
write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.
There is no disk and the file is not being used. I am the
"Administrator" and there is no "Use simple file sharing" box
to uncheck under Advanced Settings in Folder Options in
Control Panel. I have read article Q298345 and it doesn't
help. Any suggestions?

After removing all the attributes which might cause the
failure, i.e., R/O or Hidden, and making sure that the
object/file does not run a process which is still
running, and that no other machine or person is sharing
the file, try:
Go to command prompt, remove the attributes with
attrib -h -s -r -a
and then try to delete the file from "Dos".
