I just purchased a video recording program called FRAPS
from fraps.com. My intent was to make videos of flight
sim games. After recording a number of clips (12 or so)
from MS Combat Flight Simulator 3, which were saved
in "My Videos", I deleted all but one 2.5gb segment which
simply refuses to be deleted. I have tried everything I
can think of including an attempt to delete it with the
computer in "Safe" mode. I continue to get the following
error message:

"ERROR DELETING FILE OR FOLDER
Cannot delete cfs3 2003-11-17-20-16-08-37;
It is being used by another person or program. Close any
program that might be using the file and try again."

There is no one else on this system, this computer is not
part of any network, and no other programs are running.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have had similar issues , but one thing you could try
is , do a diskcleanup then run defrag, then reboot and it
should work, dont know what it is about that , that makes
it work but you can try that.

Try putting that video file into a separate, empty folder. Then delete that
entire folder and its contents (the movie file.)

Boot your Machine to WINPE (Windows XP Pre-Boot
Environment) and delete it from within there. Gives you
full Read/Write permissions to NTFS partitions. :-D

Here's a real solution to this problem. All those other methods do
not work:

I believe theres another fix for that:
open regedit,find the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Classes/CLSID/{87D62D9
4-71B3-4b9a-9489- 5FE6850DC73E}/InProcServer32

and delete it.
hope it helps.

also following reg key can cause problems:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / MediaPlayer / Player /
RecentFileList
This should be also deleted.

Back up and usual blah-blah-blah
Worked for me when an avi file just froze my pc Had the same exact
problem as you

Just go to the Doc-prompt and delete the file froom there,
works every time for me. The long way around is to defrag
the disk.

Good luck!
