I have two files that I cannot delete, rename, move, etc. When I try to
perform any action on them, I get one of two error messages: "Cannot delete
<filename>: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)" or "Cannot delete
<filename>: Invalid MS-DOS function".
I believe one of the problem files (perhaps both) was erroneously created
when I attempted to merely rename a file. I got an error message saying the
file could not be renamed because a file by that (new) name already existed
(I assure you there was no file with the new name before I received this
error message). Next thing I know, I have two files: a new one with the new
name that I can't do anything with, and my original file with its original
name that works fine. The new file has the same properties as the original
file.
Both of my problem files happen to be .mpg format, although most (if not
all) of the files I rename are .mpg's so this may or may not have something
to do it.
Help?
Thanks,
