I have a few files that I would like to delete because they halt my virus
scanner. Other than that, the computer, itself, exhibits no virus symptoms.

The files that cannot be deleted, all HTM files, are located in C:\Documents
and Settings \(My Personal File) \Local Settings \Temp \Temporary Internet
Files \Content.IE5. When I right click on these files, I am not given an
option to delete. When I attempt to delete them by deleting Content.IE5, I
am given the following error message ... "Cannot delete TODAY_~1.HTM: Cannot
find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file
name."

This occured after my grandson used the computer.

In an attempt to delete the files, I have turned off System Restore,
attempted to delete in the "Safe Mode" and attempted to delete from the
Command Line. Nothing has worked.

Can anyone help?

Thank you very much,

I am not sure why this is happening the way you describe
or why your hidden files are visible or what you use to
scan for a virus. I will try to help in saying this
computers can be finicky. Try this, in my computer click
tools/folder options/view/ check do not show hidden
files, apply and do a cold reboot or complete shut down
of the computer. Wait a minute and restart, once logged
on run the virus scanner and see if is still having a
problem. If it is go to the web site for that virus
scanner and post and or update the virus def files and
any updates for your scanner.

I've actually done all of that prior to sending the original email. My virus
scanner is from Trend. It is up to date but simply closes down when it
reaches those files. Sure, I could hide all "hidden files" and the scan
would not catch them, but there is obviously something wrong. I also did the
scan over the internet from Trend and from another AV outfit and neither
found anything. I do not think I have a virus. I do think I've got a problem
and I do need to delete those temporary files.

Problem Solved ... I just moved the directories the files were in to the
Desktop, and I deleted them.
