cannot delete file from desktop

Can anyone please help me to remove a file from my
desktop? Someone else has used my computer and have
probably downloaded something they shouldnt(!) but now
the internet link is stored on my desktop, as a content
access plug-in. Everytime i right-click to delete, a box
appears saying "access denied, make sure disk is not full
or write protected or currently in use" Please help!!!

Boot the computer in Safe Mode, then delete the file.

are you an admin on the machine? did you try booting and trying again? are
there any applications using that file while you're trying to delete it?
