Cannot delete appointments OL2000

My calendar will not allow me to delete a saved
appointment. I get the message "The messaging interface
has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists,
restart Outlook." Restarting Outlook and the entire
machine does nothing. Please help.

By trial and error I figured out that my Deleted Items
folder was too full. When I emptied it, my calendar
started working perfectly. Hope this helps someone else
out there.
