I have a folder under Applications which think may have been left from an
uncompleted WindXP installation.

It has a lot of files (all empty) in it. The main folder is called cd0.

Even in safe mode it does not delete and comes up with :

"make sure disk is not full, write-protected and that file is not currently
in use".

Any idea how to get rid of it?

Boot in safe mode with command prompt. Use command line instructions to
delete your folder.

I tried that too. STRANGELY it does not see that folder in command com
operation of Safe mode. Totally puzzling.

Interesting, but another bug in XP Home then and ridiculous on top.

NO way to delete a Folder? Except Format?

Several ideas at Kelly's site, linked below. Click "F", then scroll down
to...
"Delete - Permission Denied When Trying to Delete Folders/Files"

Thanks a lot. What do you mean with "click F"?

Click it When?

I went to Kelley's corner. Good site, but I am still not where you want me
to go.

Can you be specific, please?

DON'T format just to delete a folder. Then go into the security section and
select advanced and in there is a tab Permissions and owner. First see if
there IS an owner, and if not put your log in name as the owner and select
yes to all the options that follow after selecting apply. After you ok you
way out, you should be able to delete the folder.

Go into the properties of the folder (right click on the folder and select
properties) then go into

Good advice, Carol. I've had the same problem and you'll likely need to take
ownership of the folder and all subfolders. Reformatting is most likely
overkill in this case.

In the second row from the top is an alphabet. Cick F there. Then scroll
down to

I DID get rid of the folder and contents via a downloaded ACTIVE ERASER
version 4.0 Demo version. Worked beautifully..

BUT _ I am interested in what you said. I do not quite understand what you
say though.

When do you go into Security? While the file or folder is highlighted?

Can you please be specific, because it sounds interesting to know and try in
the future.

Thanks in advance

I do not see under Security, Advanced the tab

Permissions and/or Owner.

Where is that in Windows XP{?
