Okay, this is not a newbie question.

A previous install of XP had a User called Rich on it. A later install
of XP saw this and instead of using Rich, it created another instance
of Rich called Rich.MAIN (.MAIN being the name of the computer).

So, I decide to clean up the system and go into Documents and
Settings, move any essential items from "Rich" over to "Rich.MAIN"
(I'm really starting to loathe the virtual My Documents feature) and
then try to remove "Rich".

Explorer can't remove it. Upon investigation, I find one file in the
following hierarchy that cannot be renamed, deleted, moved, copied,
etc:

Rich/Local Settings/Temporary Internet
Files/Content.IE5/QXRGDWRI/reserve[1].

I'm an old DOS command line pro so I bring up a prompt, have to unhide
several things and find I can't even SEE Content.IE5 or anything below
it.

It's just annoying me now sitting there. How can I get rid of this
thing?

Did you delete the old "Rich" profile in User Accounts?

Did you delete the old "Rich" profile in User Accounts?

That depends on how you look at it. There IS no Rich profile in User
Accounts. Remember, this was a fresh install over a pre-existing
directory structure. Apparently MS thought of this scenario and
decided that if you ask for a username that is already in the
directory structure but NOT in User Accounts, it appends the name of
the machine to the name you want.

I don't believe that naming has anything to do with this. I removed
many "dead" accounts before getting to this one. Plus, this isn't any
sort of critical file. It's clearly just some botched tempory IE
content in the standard randomly created folder.
