We recently got visual studio .net 2003 for our school. I
have installed on networked computers in the classroom as
well as a standalone. All are running windows 2000 with
service pack 4. The standalone has no problem what so
ever creating asp web pages. The networked computers just
freeze for a minute and then say cannot locate the local
server and lists the temp directory. I have repaired
the .net framework as well as registred the aspx
extensions but to no avail. I have read and searched
through many different websites as well as the Microsoft
web site and can't seem to find any definitive help.
Advice would be appreciated.

Are there any major config differences between the networked machines and
the standalone ?

Check the IIS configs to make sure they're similar.
Also, how about network permissions and accounts? Are the machines part of
a domain, and if so, do the user accounts have sufficient permissions to
write files to the WWWRoot folders & admin IIS ?

If your standalone machine isn't part of the same domain as the
workstations, this might help explain why apps can be created on there but
not on the networked computers.
