Hi, can anyone help please as I cannot copy video to DVD+R CD. I got to Movie
file & pick CD but then I get a message that says it cannot or does not have
a recordable CD in Cd drive. But, it does have a DVD in the drive so why does
it not recognise it. I checked via my computer to see that the CD is there &
recognised & it shows up no problem as empty which it is. Any help please as
I'm at the end of my tether. Thanks

you are throwing the terms "CD" and "DVD" around as though they are
interchangeable. THEY ARE NOT. just because your computer can burn CD's
does not mean it can burn DVD's do you have a DVD burner or a CD burner ?

If you do have a DVD burner, it probably came with some software to allow
you to burn DVD's. use movie maker to create a Movie File to your computer.
use the burning software to import that movie and create a DVD.

On top of that last bit of info you have to make sure of the + or -
compatibility of the drive.
Also if you Do have a DVD burner and a valid + / - make sure the disc is
empty.
With a R disc once anything is on it it can no longer be used.

Hi Thanks for the info. Both my cd players are cd burners. I take it,
it will not burn DVD's then? Also I'm confused as to wether Movie
maker 2 is for making movies and not for burning onto DVD as I have
done some looking into this and get the impression that a DVD burning
programme is completely seperate?. Both my CD burners show - & not +
so I bought a single DVD-r dvd & tried what I thought was burn my
movie from my Digital camera on the DVD-r & when I go to load it into
my TV cd player all I get is a couple of folders showing on my TV
screen & one shows as playlist & the other I cannot remember but I
cannot play this through my TV cd player at all.

A CD-RW...burns CDs...not DVDs...
for that you need a DVD-RW.

Movie Maker 2.1 is for editing video.
If you wish to create DVDs that will
play on a stand alone DVD player
you need DVD authoring software.
I'll post some links at the bottom of
this message.

If you only have a CD-RW...you might
try creating a VCD. A VCD is a Video
Disk created on a CD instead of a DVD.

First you would save your Movie Maker
project to a folder on your hard drive as
a movie...

To save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next / Next.
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

To save as an .avi movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

Next...you need to import the completed
..wmv or .avi movie file into a software
program that will create a VCD. Most
DVD players will play a VCD...check
the manual for your DVD player for
compatibility.

I've had success with a program called
'InterVideo WinDVD Creator'...there are
many others...'NeroVision Express'...is
another example. The main thing is the
program must be able to create a VCD
from a .wmv or .avi video file.
