I have a database on a peer to peer network with the back end on my
colleague's computer. I back up on to flash drive on my computer and I can
back up the be file across the network but not the front end as I get a
message 'Access denied'. I cannot find any reason for this. Can anyone advise?

Thanks

You don't mention what method you are using for copying the files. Are you
just doing it manually in Explorer?

Are both files closed when you try to copy them? If not then this could well
be what's causing the problem.

Are the frontend and backend both in the same directory? If not I'd check
directory permissions for the two locations. Also check file permissions.

Thanks for your advice. I am doing it in the backup program Second Copy, but
I have the same problem in Explorer.

Both front and back ends are closed and in the same directory. I cannot find
an option to set file permissions and I never have set them. (According to
Windows help, if I have NTFS and I go into file properties, I should find a
Security tab which gives access to file permissions, but this tab is not
there even though I do have NTFS).

Checking further I find that I can copy the front end to another folder on
the same computer, but not to my other computer. This suggests a network
problem but I do not see how I can have a problem with one file but not the
other in the same folder.

Thanks
Dudley
