cannot copy and paste from browser address slot to email

i have a strange problem, inconvenient, i am not able to
copy and url from the browser address slot and paste it
in an email ,if i try it pastes a big long long
giberish as a link which doesnot link to the url at
all, i do not understand why this is happening, it is
irritating as i must write the urls manually and one
can make errors, it also happens if i try to paste the
url from the browser address slot into the coding of a
html editor on line as the geocities. I use yahoo for
mail and have not tried with another,
hope someone can have an idea why this is happening and
how to stop it
