Cannot contact domain

I am trying to give a domain user group power user access
rights on some of my workstations. When I try to do this
through 'Users and Passwords' > 'Advanced' on the
workstations and try to add the domain group I need, I get
the message:

"Processing of 'selected group' failed with the following
error: The specified domain either does not exist or
cannot be contacted."

Does anyone know why this might be? I've done this before
but on a different domain.

Check the DNS settings on the client to verify that is pointing to a DNS
server that has the SRV records for your DCs.
