I have had an answer from Dan (below in quotes) so i eagerly await his
response. Also FYI (everyone) Microsofts 90 day support is CONDITIONAL. I
was
told yesterday by Microsoft that if I WASN'T connected to a Domain then it
would be free otherwise I had to get PRO support which is over $200. Funny
as
all of the problems seem to be with people who ARE connected to a Domain.
I will post ASAP.....Here is Dan's Reply...
"It looks like the fax dev is going to get back to me by tomorrow noon on
this. We're transitioning into this feature right now & learning a lot
about
the implementation, so we'll figure it out as quickly as we can."

I think it may be the program, too. There have been a number of similar
issues, but so far each has been solved by the use of an unconventional
path
statement or by running elevated. I've seen 3 now that haven't.

I also tried downloading and following the instructions on "Using
Windows
Vista and Outlook 2007 in a Windows Small Business Server 2003 Network"
but
still the same problem.
I can install the SBS fax through the connect a network printer and
send a
test page through it but I still cannot connect it through the MS WFS.
Makes
me think it may be the program???
I also contacted Dan Janni (MSFT) who is the lead developer for Windows
Fax
and he said he will try and find out. The more the merrier I say.
I will post as soon as I hear anything. Same for you I hope. I am eager
to
find out what the issue is here.

I've contacted them too. We'll see what turns up.

Hi Russ,
I didn't think I had to as I CLEARLY stated I had read the other
posts
where
you asked EXACTLY the same questions.
I will contact Microsoft to see if they can resolve this issue and I
will
post back the results.

_________
Andrew
:
Of course.
Read the posts before reposting the same question.
Nowhere did you state that you elevated WFS to run as
administrator.

[MVP-Outlook]
Of course, that was suggested in the other post.
Any idea how to contact Microsoft with this?

Andrew
:
One other thought. Are you running as an administrator when you
are
configuring the client fax software?

Hi Russ,
So, no solution then.....
How do I open a support incident with microsoft? Do I have to
pay
for
this?
I really hope its free as vista is (in my opinion) still beta
software
although its been released.

Andrew

I did read the entire post. Thank you so much for admonishing
me
to
do
so.
I will withdraw from offering any assistance and permit you
to
solve
this
on
your own by opening a support incident with Microsoft. As a
courtesy
for
the
rest of us, please post back with your solution.

Hi Russ,
Thanks for the reply, but try reading the entire previous
posts
before
posting a suggestion.
I tried all the combinations with and without backslashes
and
it
still
hangs.
I know there is another posting which is unanswered with
the
same
problem.
it seems like no one has the answer to this. could you
possibly
find
out
from
one of the guys at microsoft as we seem to be going around
in
circles
here.
Many Thanks

:
Try dropping the backslashes.

Also I have looked at an identical thread and I can see
the
questions
you
are
asking and I have done and gone through the same things:
in the NETWORK FAX location in Vista Fax and Scan, I
have
entered
my
server
name as:
\\usap-svr1
\\usap-svr1\
usap-svr1
\\USAP-SVR1
etc etc etc
still round and round the wait wheel turns and I cannot
even
kill
the
application, I have to restart because I get the famous
windows
(not
responding) quote.
I await your reply with a positive fix my MVP friend

Perhaps you would like to start with what you tried and
what
happened.
Spare
no detail. Pretend we aren't there watching. Rather
hard
for
us
to
guess
what's wrong when you provide no information.

I just recently purchased 2 HP computers for work and
they
both
have
Vista
Business installed. The server we have is SBS 2003
RC1
and
it
has
a
shared
fax which all of our XP Pro machines connect through
without a
problem.
I cannot connect Vista Fax and Scan to the shared fax
to
send
faxes
but
the
XP machines work just fine. Any Ideas would be
appreciated.
