cannot connect to outlook using RDC to server

get an error message "exchange server unavailable" even though I am connected
to the server and using Quickbooks Enterprise.
i just updated my profile on the server so that i am a member of mobile
users and remote desktop but am still unable to connect.
im logged onto the server via RDC. why can't i connect to Outlook? i use
the installation of outlook on the server.
thanks in advance for any help.
 
Does Outlook work correctly if you log into the server locally?
