cannot connect to one domain

It's a strange problem. Everything was fine until this morning and I
hadn't changed anything. Now I cannot connect to *.oanda.com.

I'm using windows XP sp2 home edition, cable modem from cox out of las
vegas. I contacted both my ISP and the tech support of the sites but
they say the problem is not on their end and maybe it will just go
away.

If I do a tracert www.oanda.com at command prompt, after 15-16 steps
and it gets to so-6-0-0.mpr1.iad2.us.above.net [64.125.27.73] then
request timed out. (Of course above.net is not my ISP, nor oanda.) I
can't get to other pages in oanda.com either, so can't even post a
question in their forum.

If I shut down everything, connect one computer directly to the cable
modem, disable firewall, then try to connect with
1) firefox, after several minutes the page load (should be only
seconds), and then everything is fine afterwards
2) internet explorer, the page only load half then stuck (from view
source)

Of course this is not something I want to do. With my usual setting
though, I can access most other sites without any problem but not this
particular domain.

Any idea what's happening? Is there anything I can do about it
besides hoping it will just go away?

From your rather good descrip, the "backbone" (internet routs) is having
problems. Give it a day and it'll probably straighten itself out.
