Steve

I use XP Pro and I get an error message when I try and
connect to my Workgroup. I use DHCP to connect to my
ISP. I do not have a Domain. Can I connect just to a
Workgroup without having a Domain. I have other
computers on this workgroup; Windows 98, Windows 200 Pro,
and they can see each other and function just fine.

The error I get seems to suggest a security issue.

Thank you for any assistance!

This sounds like the same problem I am having. see "Dick,

Hi

I had the same problems myself when I connected a Windows
XP prof. laptop to an existing W2k network. To get it to
work I did the following:

1 - Make sure you the logon to the laptop was not using
blank passwords (XP does not allow blank passwords over
networks)
2 - Turned off the XP built in firewall.
3 - Turned off the XP simple file sharing default option
(Open windows explorer, then Tools , Folder Options, VIew
Tab, and hiiden right at the bottom is the checkbox to
turn this off)
4 - This will give you the normal sharing option when you
right click on a drive and allow you to specify sharing
options).
5 - Rebooted every PC within a 200 mile radius.
Then was able to see W2k Machines from XP machine.
Good Luck
