I have two computers running XPhome, the stationary one (A), connected to Internet via cable modem, with two network cards, and a laptop (B).
Connected them via network cards, first run connection visard on A, setting IP 192.168.0.1 then on B, IP 192.168.0.
firewall disabled, sharing enabled
B shows A in 'network places' but says 'search way not found
A does not see B
When running 'repare connection', both A,B report 'ARP cache flush failed, contact network administtrator
when switching B off and on, A reports 'new computer found in the network
IPconfig gives the above values of IP and netmask, nothing in 'standard gateway and DNS suffi
when by mistake, I gava B the same IP as A, it proteste
Direct connection to internet of B works O
When attempting to repeat network configuration wisard, get an error message: an error, repeat with different settings or configuer manually

I believe the problem lies in the fact you're trying to do with XP Home what you need XP Pro to do. I'd suggest upgrading to the XP Pro version to resolve your problems.

I think each computer needs to have a unique ip address. Also, are you using a router or hub, or are you just connecting them directly to each other? If you are not using a router/hub, make sure you're using a crossover cat5 (also called "ethernet") cable.

I think xp operating system is useless , you can talk all you like , but the problem is bad software , it always gets you in the end , uninstall xp best solution.
