Cannot connect 2 computers

john

Even though I spend some time on the web searching for the solution,
cannot find an answer.
I have a desktop and laptop and try to connect them both with network
cable.
Both are WXP, workgroup.
Problem is with my laptop. If I right click MyNetworkPlaces then
MapNetworkDrive then Browse then
EntireNetwork/MicrosoftWindowsNetwork/Workgroup I cannot see anything
even though I am sharing some folders. If I do the same on my desktop
I can see shared folders on that computer. I am assuming something is
disabled, but not sure what....

John,

This problem is seen here fairly frequently, and can have several possible
causes. One of the most common causes would be a misconfigured or overlooked
personal firewall, or other security component.

You might look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and
"net config workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read
this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download
browstat!):
