Hi
Using outlook 2002 and winXP - A copy of Archive folders has appeared in
outlook's folder tree and cannot be closed.
When I switch to the folder, I see a message "unable to display the folder.
Microsoft Outlook could not access the specified folder location"

Interestingly, I can use file|open|open outlook data file to open the
archive.pst folder that was the original reference for this folder - it
appears at the bottom of the folder tree and works normally (the
malfunctioning folder appears at the very top, above outlook today)

Any ideas as to how I can close the errant folder?

FWIW, also using qurb and Mcaffee antivirus

Thanks in advance

Ricky G

Make sure you have a second instance open at the same time. Right click on
the folder and click the close icon.

If that doesn't work, right click on the folder and click on Properties -
Advanced and check the path. Is it the same path as for the one that works?
Does the .pst file still exist at that location? Do you have rights to that
folder or its location?

Thanks

Right clicking on the folder does not work at all. I get a dialogue box that
gives the same error message instead of the object-specific menu. It does
work for the working copy.

Another possible hint - in the address bar the working archive folder shows
outlook://Archive%20Folders/

for the nonworking copy it shows
outlook:0000000038A1BB1005E5101AA1BB08002B2A56C200006D737073742E646C6C000000
