When I go into 'internet options' and click on the 'security' tab the 'custom
level' button is greyed out so i cannot click on it, also when i press the
'sites' button it will not let me add or remove any sites. What I am trying
to do is enable directx, it somehow got disabled and I cannot change it back
now... any suggestions

DirectX is not 'enabled' through Internet Explorer's security settings (or
anywhere else in IE, for that matter.) To obtain DirectX, download it from
Microsoft's web site. (And install it, natch.)

For questions about DirectX, ask the experts in a DirectX newsgroup, like
this one:
news://microsoft.public.directx.misc

even still i would like to figure out why it won't let me access these
options... any suggestions?

Without knowing anything at all about your computer, I can offer only these
generic suggestions:

1. If your computer is part of a domain or is otherwise subject to GPO, the
sysadmin has the power to disable settings.
2. Your computer is infected with a virus that disables your security
settings (no doubt to the virus writer's benefit.)

1. Assumpt we have rights to change the setting, any ideas that we can do
something in registry to enable these security buttons. I have the same
problem here. Thanks.
