Cannot change email accounts when sending

I have two accounts setup in Outlook. Today for some reason, when I create
a new email and click the "Accounts" button to switch from the default
account to the other one, I receive the message:

"Unable to complete the operation. A fatal error has occurred in Outlook."
And I cannot change the account.

I haven't made any changes, have checked the account info, but no joy.

Would appreciate any help!

Thanks,

Christian

I solved this problem, which actually got worse... I later wasn't able to
send any email. After creating an email and then hitting the "send" button,
the email just sat there in front of me. I could only close the email,
being prompted to save it in Drafts.

At any rate, this and the problem below were solved by deleting both email
accounts, closing Outlook, and re-creating the accounts.

Works as it should now. I still wonder how this happened?

Today, for the first time, I got the same "Fatal Error" message in Outlook XP as Christian reported on 2/4/04; I have nevr had this problem before and have been able to switch accounts at will
I have tried "Detect and Correct" in Outlook XP from Help drop-down list; it goes about 60-70% of theb way and I get this error message "Error 1919: Error configuring ODBC data source; MS Access Data Base error 6; component not found in registry. Verify that the file MS Access Data Base exists and that you can access it"; it gives me 3 choices: Cancel, Retry and Ignore; Cancel reverses the entire "Detect and Correct"; Retry doesn't help (same error message); and Ignore ignores the error and completes "Detect and Correct" and reports that the operation was successful. But it wasn't, it did not solve my problem of not being able to switch accounts
So, I uninstalled and re-installed the entire Office XP (twice); each time, during the reinstallation, I got the "Error 1919" message, as above, and I had to chose Ignore, as before, for the re-installation to be completed
Now, I am going to delete all email accounts except one and add one account at a time and see if the problem goes away
If not, I'll need help and would appreciate getting it
What bothers me the most is the "Error 1919", which I didn't get, or any other errors, when I first installed Office XP, last year.
