Hello all,

Could someone please help? I have an XP laptop that acts
much differently than my XP PC or XP laptop does at work.
The issue is in Windows explorer. When I am in Windows
Explorer and I click on a folder in the folder view (laft
hand side) the contents are shown on the right in the file
view (operating as expected). But when I click on a
folder in the file view, it spawns a new Windows but in
search mode. Can anyone point me at the correct area to
change this to simply open up a folder without opening
a "search" window? I could even deal with it opening a
new window as long as it was not in search and was in the
folder mode.

HELP!

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Jason

Hi.

Open any folder. Go to "folder options" in the "tools"
menu. Go to the "file types" tab, and look for file
types "folder" and "file folder". click on the "advanced"
button at the bottom of the window and a window should pop
up, showing a list of actions you want windows to take
when you click on a file. Set the "default action"
to "open" or "browse". That should solve your problem.
