Ive been burning audio and mp3 data cds for a few years with no problems
using xp media player 10. Lately I cannot burn either. I slect my playlist,
insert a new clean cd, uncheck files that say may not fit, click on burn only
to get a red circle with a line through it. I do not get any error nessages,
there is nothing in event manager and I don't know where to look. Can anyone
suggest where I should look for the problem. My computer is free of virus and
my xp pro is auto updated.

I guess I have not been clear enough - I cannot burn a cd using Media Player.
I burn one no problems by the direct method ie choosing individual files and
selecting "burn these files to cd". But I want to do it the way Ive been
doing it for a few years. Choose a MP play list and burn it. It no longer
works and I don't know why and I don't know where to look. I suspect MP10 has
a problem as I only have a problem when trying to burn with MP10.

OK, it is possible that some or one of your WMP10 files have been deleted
or become corrupt. Suggest you reinstall WMP10 OVERTOP of the old copy.
DO NOT delete your present copy, it designed to be installed overtop. It
may give you an error message that you already have it installed but do it
anyhow. Download a fresh copy below, but look here first:

Iv'e downloaded and re-installed over the top MP10 but still the same
problem, however I can now burn Himat disc which is wma format and my car
stereo will play that but still not able to burn data disc using mp10
playlist. Too bad I don't get an error message.
Anyway Byte, thanks for you help. much appreciated.
