Cannot browse with IE, Firefox, etc

I am unable to browse using any Internet browser. However, I can browse if I
open up Windows Explorer and go to any site in my bookmarks. Email through
Outlook works fine. I installed Firefox and Opera and cannot browse with
either of them. I have run every legitimate spyware program I could find. I
know there has to be a registry setting somewhere that is causing this, but
I just cant figure out which one. Any ideas?
 
You haven't installed Google Desktop, have you? If so you may need to run
Lspfix to undo the damage to the TCP stack.

Otherwise, might well be a DNS probkem. Browsers cache the IP addresses of
history entries, hence you can still access them with broken DNS.

Try using ping or nslookup to access a few Internet domains, and see what
results you get. A reply of 1.0.0.0 indicates a DNS issue.
