Hi,
It seems we have the same problem. I am not an expert of computer, so I just
restore to the previous instalation. You may want to consider to do that
before we know why the problem happen after we installed the newest update
(April 11th). Ciao!

Hi, I just restored my computer aswell after encountering the same problem.
I'd like to know if when your pc restarted again a dialogue box came up
telling you that your computer had just recovered from a serious error
(something to do with a driver) or is it just mine? I'd greatly appreciate a
reply, thanks.

Yep, had the same issue. Also, the AutoUpdate is not working properly
now, it just tells me that there is an update available, but I'm not
able to install it.

It apears this problem was caused by the Windows Update we automatically
installed. Do we have to wait for MS to issue a fix for this? Where is the
support?

Same exact problem here. Obviously a MS boo-boo. Waiting...

Just want to add my 2 cents

A Windows update icon (shield) appeared on my computer this morning. When I
clicked it, it stated that 6 Critical updates from Microsoft, were available
for installation. These updates were:

KB911565 - Security update for Windows Media Player 10 for Windows XP
KB890830 - Windows Media Software Removal Tool
KB911567 - Cumulative Security Update for Outlook Express for Windows XP
KB908531 - Security Update for Windows XP
KB912812 - Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP
KB911562 - Security Update for Windows XP

After I updated my computer, I was informed that the updates were installed
sucessfully, and then I needed to reboot my computer. Once my computer
rebooted, I was unable to connect to the internet with any of the software I
normally use (Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, Mozilla Firefox, & Norton
antivirus update. I was also unable to reboot my computer. I had to unplug
it, reboot it in Safe Mode, and restore my computer to the settings that
existed prior to the update. I ended up doing this twice.

Do you have any information why I am having trouble updating my computer?

I am running Windows XP SP2, Home Edition, on a Dell 4550, with Pentium 2.66
processorr.

I found if you hold the CTRL key and the hit enter it will take you to the
page you want. would still like to see the fix soon

I went backup & performed the updates one at a time.
All of the updates, but one, performed the way they should.

The Security Update for Windows - KB908531 - caused my computer to lose
access to the Internet. It didn't even permit me to restore my computer. I
had to unplug the computer, and then boot into Safe Mode and restore from
there.

Does anyone know what's going on with this update?

All updates work fine on my machine.
