Cannot boot Windows XP after install Linux

Jay

I have BootMagic on my system which I can boot
from either Windows XP or RedHat Linux. The
problem occured after I installed LindowsOS
to replace RedHat Linux. Now. I can't boot
Windows XP and got the following message :

Windows could not start because the following
file is missing or corrupt:
<Windows root>\system32\hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file.

Anyway to fix this ? Thanks in advance.

You can try to copy hal.dll from the servicepackfiles directory to see if
that will boot the machine. Most likely there is an MBR or boot sector
issue with finding the files now. Did you use BootMagic after installing
XP but before installing Linux?
