cannot attach file to email

Every time I try to send an email and add an attachment outlook stops
working. I pick check online for a solution but no luck.

I can right click the name of a file and send to>mail recipient and I can
send an attachment that way but, I would like to be able to reply to an
email and attach a file if necessary.
 
I tried re-installing Office 2007 and I tried repairing Office 2007, neither
worked. I also tried uninstalling, re installing and repairing Adobe as I
noticed that I also cannot print to pdf. It used to work fine. I don't know
what has changed.
