I have two printers shared via an old win98 box:
1. \\w98\hplj4l
2. \\w98\clp500
I want to use those from a Windows 2000 client.
I have no problem with the first one: it is well recognized by the W2K
client and even appears on the "Add Printer Wizard" as a "local printer"
port named \\w98\hplj4l. It prints perfectly from the W2K client.
The other one, on the other hand, does NOT appear on that "Add Printer
Wizard" list ("Use the following port") - DESPITE BEING LISTED IN "My
Network Places".
I have another *client* PC which runs linux and I can print to that
printer via smbclient), so I know the Windows 98 server and the
connection work.
How do I make my W2K workstation recognize the \\w98\\clp500 as a LAN
Manager port just like the \\w98\hplj4l (that is there already)?
Thanks!
George
