After trying all I can find about this problem at the Windows Knowledge Base
I am now at a point were I click Add a printer and I get Operation could not
be completed...

Is there anyone in this NG that tell me how I install and use a printer I've
been using all along with 98Se, in XP. Should I just back XP out? Do a
complete NEW Install instead of UPGRADE?

Anyone...Help....

I had your EXACT problem. I took it to a professional
who said firstly that I had 3 viruses. He reinstalled XP
and with a little more troubleshooting, my printers are
working fine. You have to install the correct drivers
that will work with XP

First of all if you kept the printer connected during the upgrade, you've
corrupted the drivers and the printer must be uninstalled COMPLETELY before
reinstalling.

However you also have an additional problem in that your print spooler is
not running, hence the error message.

First uninstall correctly following the instructions on my website:
http://www.coribright.com/Windows/Article One.htm

After the reboot and BEFORE connecting the printer to the PC, check the
print spooler is running.... at the command prompt, type:

net start spooler

(and hit enter)

Download a new set of drivers for XP from the printer manufacturer's
website. Since you don't tell us what printer you are using, you'll have to
find it yourself!

Install the drivers and do NOT connect the printer to the PC until the
software tells you to do so.

The printer is a Sumsung SF-4700 MFC which is a problem in and of itself as
I have been unable to locate XP drivers for it. The closes I've come is Win
2000 Pro drivers which I am a bit leery to use...
