cannot add a printer

get;
'operation could not be completed' before you get to the
printer icons folder
xp pro set to classic view, so you click on start,
settings, printers and faxes and you get this window with
a red x in it and the above message.
any idea's?

Yes I have admin rights, I found an article on microsoft
web page # 314876, that's telling me it's the print
spooler and that it is not running. And that has solved
the problem, except even after setting the spooler to
automatically restart with the machine, it is not starting.
Thanks for the reply. With xp I always check for
permission problems.

If it is a Lexmark, the instructions on how to clean up everything are on
Bruce Sanderson's website and I've posted the link many times today.

The answer is to uninstall and then reinstall CORRECTLY.
